Having already restored over 25,000 acres of land, we are now expanding the target to restore and revitalise ecosystems at a scale equivalent to 100 times the physical space MAS occupies, against our 2025 footprint. It reflects an ambition to create positive impact well beyond our operational boundaries and support healthier, more resilient ecosystems.

The environmental impact of industry often extends beyond factory boundaries, and healthy ecosystems are essential to biodiversity, water security, climate resilience and the wellbeing of communities. By investing in restoration at scale, MAS aims to address a broader share of its ecological responsibility and support the natural systems on which people, businesses and supply chains depend.

Our regeneration efforts include conservation, reforestation, afforestation, invasive species removal, forest gardens and analogue forestry. Projects are based on ecological need, restoration potential and long-term viability. Ongoing monitoring and collaboration with expert partners will help ensure that restoration delivers credible and lasting biodiversity outcomes.

By measuring how MAS operations and value-chain activities depend on and affect nature, MAS aims to move from broad ambition to a more structured and evidence-led approach through Science Based Targets for Nature. This will help identify the ecosystems, geographies and value-chain activities where action is most needed.

Nature-related impacts are often indirect, dispersed across supply chains and therefore easy to overlook. Without a clear understanding of where these impacts occur, organisations cannot prioritise action effectively or take meaningful responsibility. Measuring and disclosing nature-related targets will help MAS strengthen accountability, make better-informed decisions and respond to risks linked to biodiversity loss, ecosystem decline and resource availability.

We will collaborate with suppliers, partners and relevant experts to assess nature-related impacts and dependencies across the value chain. This will involve identifying priority areas, improving data and assigning responsibility for action. The findings will inform measurable targets, implementation plans and transparent disclosure, and help embed nature considerations into operational decision-making.
